Merit was built with the purpose of benefitting ALL event planners, regardless of their client budget levels. Any event planner looking to expand their service offerings to include hotel bookings is eligible to join Merit, whether you manage small gatherings or large-scale social & corporate events.

Joining Merit is currently free! For members joining in the future, there will be a small Onboarding Fee to get set up (and access some new tech being built), but for now the fee is being waived.

We have three main Services, with the percentage to planners as follows: Self-Fulfillment - 50% of gross commissions received. - You and your team handle all aspects of the room block process, CC'ing Merit in the initial outreach email to each hotel. Includes commission tracking and ACH payments to you. - Sample commission: $50,000 room revenue, 10%* commission, $2,500 to you. - No minimum block revenue required. Partial Management - 20% of gross commissions received. - Merit handles all initial aspects of the room block process, including: location research, hotel research, initial hotel outreach, pricing presentation, contract negotiations, commission tracking, and ACH payments. Does not include BEO or F&B management/contracting. - Sample commission: $50,000 room revenue, 10%* commission, $1,000 to you. - Minimum block spend (or cumulative between multiple hotels): $50,000. Full Management - Pricing on a case-by-case basis. - Merit handles all aspects of the room block process, including but not limited to: location research, hotel research, initial hotel outreach, contract negotiations, client & guest facing communications, commission tracking, etc. Options for white-labeling these services under your brand. This is most appropriate for Master Account bookings where the client has requested you (we) manage all of their guests' hotel bookings, requests, etc. - Minimum $350,000 block spend. *Commission percentage is specific to each hotel, typically 7-10% of actualized room revenue, not including taxes, fees, or BEO's.

No! Most room rates presented by hotels already include commissions. If you aren't able to take the commission (due to lack of an IATA number), that money gets absorbed back into the hotel. While there are exceptions to every rule, 99% of the time there will be no effect on the rate or contract terms offered by hotels simply because there is a commission involved. You'll learn all about that 1% in the available training materials after joining.

After becoming a member, you'll receive guidance, scripts, and email templates to help you best utilize our IATA credentials during the booking phase of your room blocks, including verbiage to clearly communicate with your hotels.
